Central Council of the Society of St Vincent De Paul in the Diocese

A nonprofit organization

The Long Island Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDPLI) is part of an international organization of Catholic laymen and women who seek in a spirit of justice and charity to help the poor, the needy and the disadvantaged through practical works of charity. We accomplish our mission through person-to-person involvement, providing financial assistance, material aid, emotional support or spiritual comfort, in an effort to resolve an immediate crisis, to promote self-sufficiency and ultimately, to enable people to help themselves.

Last year, SVDPLI assisted 185,000 Long Islanders.

What sets us apart from other social service agencies in the bi-county area is our commitment to providing comprehensive care to all units of a family. We are the only organization on Long Island to provide personal and private service through the form of home visits. As an organization, the Society is an advocate on behalf of the poor. We seek to discover the root causes of poverty and to remedy its effects.
