You have all been so generous in years past when I have written asking for your help in support i-tri. For that I, and the whole i-tri team, am eternally grateful.

I am back again this year asking for your help as part of One Island Giving Day, which supports not-for profits on Long Island by offering us cash prizes for our success in raising money in October, especially tomorrow, October 26. LAST YEAR, WITH YOUR HELP, WE WON VIRTUALLY ALL OF THE PRIZES AND WE HOPE WE CAN DO THE SAME THIS YEAR! Do you think you might support us again? If you could possibly donate tomorrow, that would be wonderful!

I know most of you have heard about us, but let me tell you a bit more about what our program has accomplished to date.

This will be i-tri’s 10th year of helping middle school girls on the East End of Long Island. We will be serving 200 girls in10 schools this year, having started in 1 school with 8 girls,10 years ago. i-tri helps our girls find their voice, their power and their personal strength through our free program of mentoring and coaching which culminates in each girl’s pushing to do what seemed impossible at year’s start: completing a mini triathlon of running, biking and swimming.

We are now able to track and see ever more clearly the impact i-tri has had on our girls over the years:

-  Our girls show improved grades

-  They show better behavior in school

-  They exhibit new leadership abilities

-  All complete high school

-. 90% go to college!!!!!!!!

And we have seen dyslexic girls become Congressional interns. We have seen a survivor of sexual assault stand up with the founder of the #MeToo Movement to talk candidly about her experience. We have seen a girl who did not know how to swim before i-tri become a lifeguard. We have seen a survivor of domestic abuse empower herself and inspire her mother to stand against their abuser.

Our results are extraordinary. i-tri was never about a race. It has always been about the girl and her journey beyond the finish line. It is about helping teen girls to be strong and powerful and to believe that they are.

This is why I continue to support i-tri with my time and money. And why I am bold enough to come back again to you, my generous friends, to ask for your continued support.

Our dream is to see our program scale across our area and beyond. We are now adding 2-3 new schools per year. With more resources, we can grow faster and will be able to offer new programs to our girls. This year we will offer a new program that encourages our girls to become interested in STEM. We also will begin a program to mentor our high school age alumnae. And there are more in the wings.

We continue to grow and get even better at what we do.

But we can’t do this without your support.

I thank you for anything you can do to help us this year. I have set a goal to raise over $10,000 for i-tri this October. Please jump on board with Rik and me. We will kick this off with a $5000. donation tomorrow. Also, a generous board member will match your donation if you donate between 12 and 1 PM tomorrow, October 26!

I thank you with all my heart.
