They say if you want to make a difference, start on a local level. I’ve served as an i-tri board member for 10 years and I've seen many girls' lives improve, their futures pointed in a new direction. Girls who started i-tri as self-doubting 10-year olds are now thriving in college. They are standouts in their schools and communities.
i-tri teaches girls in middle school to set and fulfill goals and to have confidence in themselves and their abilities. Imagine not knowing how to swim or bike and then completing a triathlon five months later! That accomplishment, and the empowerment and mentorship training that goes with it, convinces girls at a vulnerable age that they can do anything they set their minds to as long as they focus, persevere and believe in themselves.
