Dana: You Make a Difference!

“You make a difference.” This simple phrase felt like the last puzzle piece that was missing from my life and I finally found it. For many years I knew I wanted to help people, but I could never put into words how or showed how I planned to do it. Who knew that I would find my answer in a modest white house in Roosevelt, New York, where a steadfast group is committed to serving families and youth in Roosevelt and the surrounding communities on Long Island.

Choice For All has allowed me to give back and advocate for community that raised me as a Community Health Navigator. This role has allowed me to create a science laboratory at Choice for All’s Afterschool School Program. Nothing could replace the happiness I felt as students observed cells under microscopes and put on lab coats and goggles and eagerly showed what would be found in their own laboratories. Currently Choice For All has launched Roosevelt Healthy Corner Store Network. This is a network of corner stores and community residents uniting together to create better access to affordable and quality healthy food in Roosevelt.
